Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) has laid two charges against a man living in the Geelong region under the Environment Protection Act , following a comprehensive investigation into the dumping of industrial waste.

The charges allege the man dumped industrial waste on land that was not licensed to accept it and then failed to comply with an Environmental Action Notice served by the EPA.

The notice required him to cease accepting and remove all industrial waste from a premises at Nintingbool to a place that was properly licensed to accept it.

Failure to comply with an Environmental Action Notice is a criminal offence under section 274 of the Environment Protection Act 2017.

EPA guidelines regarding Environmental Action Notices and the lawful disposal of industrial and commercial waste are available at www.epa.vic.gov.au

As the matter is now before the courts EPA will be making no further comment.
