AGL and APA Group are proposing to develop the Gas Import Jetty and Pipeline Project (the project).  AGL is an energy company and APA Group is an energy infrastructure company. The project aims to build the infrastructure to supply imported natural gas to south-eastern Australia.  The gas will supply industrial, commercial and residential gas customers.

The proposed project consists of:

  • the Crib Point floating storage and regassification unit (FSRU)
  • jetty works and a receiving facility at Crib Point
  • 57 km of pipeline from Crib Point to Pakenham.

If approved, the FSRU is a ship that will be moored long-term at Crib Point. It receives imported liquid natural gas from carrier ships and converts it back to gas. The receiving facility then treats the gas before piping it into the natural gas network.
