When Cleanway closed their Tullamarine landfill, EPA issued them with a post-closure pollution abatement notice (PC PAN).

The PC PAN has conditions that require Cleanaway to monitor and report on: 

• Leachate. Leachate is a liquid that is formed from rainwater and waste breaking down.  
• Offsite groundwater impacts.
• Landfill gas. 
• Surface water. 
• The landfill cap. The landfill cap is a cover that is put over the closed landfill, to seal it from the environment. 

Monitoring results are available through EPA’s Interaction Portal.
